Lexington Warfare Battles to Win at Wolves

Mon 27 Jul 2020

Winner 33 of the year: LEXINGTON WARFARE, trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Tony Hamilton: The Final Furlong Podcast Maiden Handicap, over 1m 1/2f at Wolves.

He is an Acclamation colt that has shown the ability to take a race, but things kept going wrong for him - rearing in the stalls, being in a poor position in a race or trapped in, but yesterday we got that bit of luck and things clicked into place for him, under a well judged ride by Tony!

He took a keen hold from the off, but Tony had a firm grip on the reins and kept him in midfield. Watching the field begin to come around the bend, he looked to be comfortable and as others began to come off the bridle he waited until the the straight was in sight and almost in 'slingshot' fashion, asked him to quicken coming off the bend inside the 2 pole. He switched him to the outer to get a run and made good headway to lead, holding on at the line, even though there was a fast finisher looming up on his outer. He prevailed by a short head and we all breathed a sigh of relief that he got his luck this time!

Syndicate manager Tom Palin says: "I am thrilled that he got that first win and I’m aware that it’s the first win as an owner for a lot of syndicate members so particularly well done to them! He does have good form at Wolverhampton now, (3,3,1) so that's something that I'll look at going forward, but for now, well done to his owners. Colts by Acclamation clearly run well on Sundays, as Ventura Tormenta took his Group 2 last weekend! ;) "

Well done to his owners, team Fahey, who are doing really well at the moment and thanks to Tony for a good ride.

His win, along with KUPA RIVER taking 3rd on the card and STAR SHIELD picking up 4th place money at Ascot, took us over the £400,000 of race prize money won this year. We look forward to a 'Glorious' week at Goodwood: We have MARIE'S DIAMOND declared for the Group 2 Lennox Stakes on Tuesday, OLEG declared to the Class 2 stayers handicap (a race we won with Timoshenko last year!) as well as MAGICAL WISH in a Class 3 on Wednesday and more to come.

As ever, keep up to date with our runners here: http://www.middlehamparkracing.net/entries.htm and best of luck to all our owners.

Stay safe and well everyone and here's to more winners this week!
