Clay Regazzoni Steers us to Musselburgh Glory!
WINNER 93 OF 2021: CLAY REGAZZONI, trained by Keith Dalgleish and ridden by Callum Rodriguez: 'The Visit Racing TV Now Handicap' over 1m 1f at Musselburgh.
Let's begin by expressing the delight that has been Clay Regazzoni this year for his owners! With 3 wins so far - two were at Musselburgh over this distance of 9f. His stable companion Caballero (owned by the leading owner contender Mr Ken McGarrity) was favourite, but could Clay give us the title?
He broke well and took a prominent position, moving forward to take the lead 3f out. Callum went for home and we held our breath as Caballero tried to close him down, but he kept on gamely, to win by 3/4 of a length. A 3rd course and distance win this year!

Timeform gave him a seasons' best rating of 79 and say: "Has enjoyed a cracking campaign and turned in his best effort of the season to record a third win over C&D, and fourth in total; close up, travelled smoothly, led over 3f out, shaken up over 2f out, always holding on.”

Syndicate manager Mike says: "Well done to Clay's owners- yet again! He has had a tremendous season, as has Ventura Flame, who took 2nd yesterday too. We are honoured to be at the top of their 'leading owner' table at the end of their flat season and I must thank Keith and his team at Belstane, for superb results with our horses this year. We book-ended the Musselburgh season - winning their very first race with The Gatekeeper, on his debut and Clay winning their last race of the season; now that is satisfying!”
What a way to finish the flat season at Musselburgh - with us as leading owners, Keith as leading trainer and Callum as leading jockey! Thank you to Musselburgh, who sent us this message this morning: "On behalf of the team at Musselburgh, a huge congratulations on not only a win and a second yesterday but also winning our owners championship. Our owners and jockeys’ championship came right down to the last race. With you beating your opposition by a small length. It was a nail-biting finish. As part of the winning championship your colours will be put on display outside our winner’s bar and on the owner’s lawn."
