Beechwood Jude is our 30th winner of the year - we have specially released 10% of shares in him!
What a thrill it was yesterday to see BEECHWOOD JUDE win his first race.
Having played with his trip this season, it seemed that the 1m 3f suited him very well. Although he did take a keen hold, his jockey Shane Gray managed to hold on to him until 3f out when he asked him to quicken. The pair made headway pulling to the outside of the field just over 1f out and went on to lead inside the final furlong, staying on well.
Syndicate manager Mike says "We thought that 3f down Shane had given him a bit too much to do but he stayed on really nicely and he even got over being carried wide by the grey horse pushing him onto the inside rail but he stuck out stoutly and won quite comfortably in the end. He needed every yard of that trip and looks like he’ll stay all day. Obviously it was a bit tight at the finish so the handicapper isn’t going to put him up too much we wouldn’t have thought. If he were to run at Ayr on Friday he would have a 6lb penalty so I expect that we’ll swerve Ayr and wait until he gets his new handicap mark next week and make a plan from there."
There were lovely scenes in the winners enclosure, with hugs for the lass and thrilled owners. What a day for Keith Dalgleish though - four winners at Carlisle and five across the card. Well done everyone!
