Sun 29 May 2022

WINNER 49 OF 2022: BRAVE EMPEROR, trained by Archie Watson and ridden by Luke Morris: 'The £30,000 Ire Incentive, It Pays to Buy Irish Restricted Novice Stakes' over 6f at Chelmsford.

Having his third start, on the back of a win at Chepstow on May 10th over 5f, this time he was upped to 6f in a vaulable £30,000 novice. Breaking smartly, he pressed the leader, but coming around the bend, came slightly wide. Luke asked him for his effort in the straight and he kept on to lead inside the final 110yds, running on to win by 1 and a 1/4 lengths.

Timeform rated it as a career best (from his 3 starts) p87 performance, saying: "Close up, ridden halfway, hung right, stayed on to lead well inside final 1f, asserted late on.”

Luke said in his Racing TV interview: "He ground it out. Once the penny drops he will be a nice horse and will get 7 furlongs in time. He is a beautiful scopey colt and should give his owners plenty of fun.”

Syndicate manager Tom says: "Congratulations to his owners on their win. It's a privilege to win such extraordinary prize money for winning a novice Stakes under a penalty. Thanks to Chelmsford for putting on the race. He was carried a little wide on the bend, but he stuck to his task and delighted Luke, who says that he has a good attitude. He will end up getting even better when stepped up in trip. Archie and I have a Listed race in mind for him next, so his owners are rightly delighted. An added bonus was picking up the €10,000 voucher to owner to spend on Irish-breds at Irish sales!”

WINNER 50 OF 2022: DUBAI STATION, trained by Robert Cowell and ridden by Rossa Ryan: The £50,000 feature 'Betsi Handicap' over 6f at Chelmsford.

Rossa had him tucked in behind in midfield, until they were at the 2 furlong marker, when he asked him to quicken. Making headway over 1f out, he went second 1f out and then led inside the final 110yds, keeping on, to win by 1/2 a length.

The Racing Post made him their 'Star performer' on the card: "Dubai Station (4.10) made it 2-2 on the AW and could be interesting if contesting the Wokingham"

Timeform rated it as a p108 performance, saying: "Tracked pace, travelled well, shaken up over 1f out, led last ½f, ran on."

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Great to see him win like that, he is a horse we have earmarked for the Wokingham and so to see the Racing Post make that comment (above) is reassuring! Well done to his MPR syndicate and his co owners, Mr Watt and Mr Dasmal, whose colours he ran in yesterday.”

WINNER 51 OF 2022: HANA COLLONGES, trained by Nicky Henderson OBE and ridden by Nico de Boinville: 'The Gower Motors Mares' Handicap Hurdle' over 3m at Ffos Las.

Fourth last time out, over 2m 5.5f, Nico said at the time that going up in trip would suit, so yesterday she was trying 3 miles for the first time. There was a slight delay to the start of the race, as 3 hurdles were being omitted in the home straight.

Always prominent from the off, she was jumping well and continuing to press the leader. Nico asked her to quicken and she moved to a narrow lead 3f out and although she faced a strong challenge in the final furlong, she kept on strongly to win by 1 and 3/4 lengths.

"Hana Collonges; nicely ridden to win." Watch the full race replay here: https://www.attheraces.com/racecard/Ffos-Las/28-May-2022/1930

Syndicate manager Tom says: "Well done to her owners and also to Nico, I text him after the race to say well done on a great ride. She attacked the flights and was all heart at the end of the race. Nicky was really pleased with her also. She has willingness in bucket loads and really tries for you.”

So, we have passed 50 winners for the year, which is fantastic. The 2-year-olds have really come out fighting for us this season - that's 8 to have made their debuts so far, with 7 race wins! We thank the ITV Racing team for their interview with Mike Prince at Haydock yesterday, where they remarked on how good our stats have been this year - so far! Owners are loving their racing at the moment too. We organised 52 race day badges on Friday and 64 on Saturday.
