A Saturday double - across both codes!

VENTURA LIGHTNING wins the Ripon Hornblower Conditions Stakes.

A 2 year old contest, with 'the hornblower' sounding the horn on the track before the race (he is in the gallery with some owners!) The race was won comfortably by our son of No Nay Never, who we bought at the Arqana Breeze - up sale in May.

"There's a bit of pressure with the most expensive Middleham Park Racing purchase ever", said syndicate manager Tom Palin after the race "but VENTURA LIGHTNING has done it perfectly. He's in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes and Tony Hamilton said that six furlongs is probably his trip. He's got a bit of an enthusiastic brain, so we'd like to try and educate him again and we'll look for something Listed or Group 3, before we look at going up for that."

That’s our 2nd two year old of the year trained by Richard Fahey to be unbeaten after both of their starts, (Ventura Rebel the other.) He was selected by the Racing Post as "the performance of the day" (see the gallery for the excerpt.)

JEN'S BOY wins again.

He was the Racing Post 'Star performer' from Market Rasen: "Jen's Boy (7.30) stayed on well to land the most valuable race on the card."

Since stepping up in trip to 2m 7f, Jen's Boy has recorded a 2nd, 1st and yesterday another 1st place! Given a lovely ride by Nico de Boinville, he was always prominent, stalking the two leaders and jumping well. Moving up to 2nd two flights out, he then got to the front, pricked his ears and idled a little, but Nico reminded him of his task and he moved away to win by 5 lengths for Nicky Henderson.

SESAME BIRAH gains valuable 'Black Type.'

Our 2 year old daughter of Gregorian ran a fantastic race to finish 2nd in the listed Denford Stakes at Newbury for Richard Hannon. We won it last year with Boitron, also trained by Richard and she fought with the Mark Johnston colt at the head of the field, staying on through the line.
She earned a Timeform rating of 97 for her run and for a filly we bought for £15,000 at the Goffs UK Premier Sale, she has beaten some very expensive and more fashionably bred opponents. We will now look for another Listed or Group 3 race for her, either here or in Europe.

Well done to all owners.
