WINNER 68 of 2022: KAYFAST WARRIOR, trained by Donald McCain and ridden by Brian Hughes: 'The Horizon Parking Manage Over 3000 Carparks Handicap Hurdle' over 2m at Perth.
Brian had him to the fore at the start and he set off on the outer, just tracking the leader. Jumping well, as they came to the home turn, he pressed the leader and was shaken up to take the lead before 2 out. He went further clear approaching the last hurdle and kept on well in the run-in, to win by 2 lengths.

Timeform rated it as a career best 104 performance, saying: "After 7 weeks off, didn't need to improve to land his first handicap, the emphasis on speed suiting him perfectly well despite the fact his earlier win came in the mud; close up, quickened to lead early in straight, kept up to work."

Under a fine ride by Brian Hughes, this tough, honest and genuine horse has done his owners proud. Amazingly it was on the same day last year that he recorded his first win, on the flat and now he has won 7 times! A tribute to Tom Dascombe who trained him on the flat and to Donald for their work with him."
