A Friday winning double, including a 1-2!

Sat 06 Apr 2019

An exciting afternoon at Leicester yesterday at their first turf meeting of the season, with two winners and a 1-2 in the mix as well (shown in the main photo!)

KUPA RIVER (Roger Fell) is being such a grand servant for his owners this year. His race form now reads 2,2,1,1 in 2019, but he does like to test the nerves! He just seems to like forcing photo finishes and even caused a Stewards' Enquiry yesterday, but kept the race afterwards.

VENTURA GOLD (Richard Fahey) did it the hard way, from the widest draw. He had to come the long way around and it really was a superb ride from Richard's apprentice jockey Sean Davis. This was Sean's first UK winner and what a way to do it! His syndicate manager Tom, who was there, said "What a privilege to be there with many of his owners to see him get his head in front on his seasonal debut. He really knuckles down and tries his heart out, does Ventura Gold. I think a mile and anything around 10f works for him, so I'll see what the handicapper does and look for a next race for him."

ELIXSOFT battled with Ventura Gold to the line and the pair pulled just under 2 lengths away from the rest of the field, but VG's tenacity held her on the line. She has also had a superb season and is now 4,3,2,1,2,2  in 2019 for her owners and Roger Fell.

Very appropriate then that we are at Roger's yard this morning for an owners' stable visit-so plenty of polos and carrots at the ready for all our horses!

Well done to all owners yesterday! We are now on a hearty 13 winners for the year.
