50 Not Out, from a Dalgleish Double!

Fri 16 Jul 2021

WINNER 49 OF 2021: Misty Ayr, trained by Keith Dalgleish and ridden by Joe Fanning: 'The British Stallions Studs EBF Novice Stakes' over 5f at Hamilton.

Our daughter of Kodi Bear, bought at the breeze ups for 25,000gns, was having her fourth start, on the back of a super 2nd in the Listed Tipperary Stakes last time out - earning valuable black-type. The 'Best Turned Out' winner was a little on her toes in the paddock, but Joe Fanning got her settled on the way down to the 5f start. She put in a professional performance in the three runner field, to make all, just needing to be asked for an effort 2f out, to see of the challenge of the 2nd horse. She kept on nicely to assert on the line, without Joe needing to do to much to get there.

Timeform, who have allocated her a rating of 92 added she "didn't need to repeat last effort to open her account.”

Joe said in his Racing TV interview: "She was a little revvy today, but travelled well and I took it easy down the hill, but did her best work at the end and is crying out for 6f. She is a very nice filly, who was strong on the line.”

Syndicate manager Mike says: "Well done to her owners on her win! She deserved to get her head in front after some decent efforts. It was the slowest furlong per furlong time of all the races on the card and Joe ended up riding it like a piece of work rather than going flat out from the start. He said that he never felt in any danger during the final couple of furlongs and that she was very strong through the line. She'll have some time to freshen up and we have a couple of races in mind for her in August, including the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York.”

WINNER 50 OF 2021: Clay Regazzoni, trained by Keith Dalgleish and ridden by Callum Rodriguez: 'The Follow @Racingtv on Twitter Handicap' over 1m 1/2f at Hamilton.

Fourth over course and distance 5 days ago, on the back of a win at Musselburgh, Keith re fitted the visor on Clay, that he had worn to win that race. Well, we think the commentator's comment as he crossed the line in front says it all...."Callum Rodriguez is guilty of theft as he has stolen it from the front!" He did indeed, racing freely, he made all and kept on, unchallenged, to win by 2 1/4 lengths.

Timeform say: "After just 5 days off, turned in best effort of the season, and though he owed plenty to the tactics employed, is now 2 wins from as many starts when visored."

Callum said in his Racing TV interview: "We had a wide draw, so I had to try to go forward and he got a good start. He went a nice enough gallop and I just let him free wheel down the hill. The visor has done the trick and he is a good fun horse for Middleham Park.”

Syndicate manager Mike says: "Congratulations to his owners on another win! He certainly went with plenty of zest yesterday and it was an enterprising ride from Callum. He suggested there that he can remain competitive after the handicapper has his say next week. It's been good to see him put in a number of consistent runs now and long may that continue. Good work by Keith also, to have an across the card treble.”

Super to have a double on the day and even better to bring up 50 winners for the year. Read the Racing Post story here: https://www.racingpost.com/news/race-reports/50-up-for-the-season-for-middleham-park-as-lowther-possible-misty-ayr-strikes/500686
