From the immediate family of Champion Hurdle winners, MORLEY STREET and GRANVILLE AGAIN, you couldn’t possibly wish for a better, and more speedily bred pedigree, to send to the master of Seven Barrows. There are 7 Grade 1 winners, no less, in the immediate family, of this fabulous gelding, including Nicky’s Hersov, Almira and the Grade 1 winning, Ferny Hollow.
Never, in the history of MPR unraced horses, have we happened upon a horse, that Bloodstock agent David Minton, describes as his:“Pick of the sale."
This gelding, is the most expensive, unraced, progeny through the ring, EVER, of the young sire UNIVERSAL, which really says something about the stamp of this individual. Universal’s eldest progeny are now just 6yo, but he’s a hugely exciting young sire, with a number of ‘future stars’ waiting in the wings. Read more about him here: https://www.greatbritishstallionshowcase.co.uk/nh-stallions/universal
This gelding’s mare’s progeny are largely unraced, or lightly raced in bumpers to date, but they’ve raced in Listed races already and some are thoroughly exciting over hurdles as they progress through the ranks.
Perhaps the ‘piece de résistance’ though, for this horse, is when one takes a look at the cantering video of him, Nicky Henderson describes him, in this video, as having “quite a lot of sex appeal,” such is the way he covers the ground over the Seven Barrows’ hill. He’s quite the most fabulous mover you could EVER wish to see and most definitely has the “X Factor,” in our opinion!
He’s a thoroughly exciting individual, of the like, we’ve never been able to bring to the MPR ranks before. He’s impressed ourselves, David Minton, but most of all, the master of Seven Barrows, Nicky Henderson. Where he ends up, time will tell, hopefully, it’s up that Cheltenham hill, on more than one occasion!
Pedigree update (28th March): His half-brother STONER’S CHOICE is now a 5-time winner and placed 2nd in the Listed Ballymore Sidney Banks hurdle this season. He looks destined for even better things as he matures and ultimately goes chasing.
Training Update: High Worth made a nice debut at Warwick, to take 2nd. Nico had him at the rear of the field to allow him to settle and he made smooth headway past runners as the race progressed. He pulled 6 lengths ahead of the 3rd horse in the home straight and will have learned plenty from that. We beat the rest of the field a fair way and there were some very nice horses in there with lofty reputations. Nicky reported: “He settled and went to sleep and travelled like a very good horse. I couldn’t have been happier with how it went from an education point of view. It was a super run. He is a fine looking, big chasing type."
Here he is on the gallops, snapping at the heels of the horses in front:
