Training update (January 16th): We saw this colt at our owners '2yo parade' on Sunday. He is now completing two canters, starting to go upsides along with going in the arena and on the walker each day. He is a good ride and has been great to do everything with. See new videos and Tom, his syndicate manager talking about him at the parade, below.

BIOGRAPHY: Based on the stallion phenomenon’s that are SHOWCASING & HAVANA GREY (both Whitsbury Manor Stud sires), Whitsbury’s, latest, freshmen sire incumbent, SERGEI PROKOFIEV - son of the great Scat Daddy - has met with serious appeal, across the racing industry, as his progeny are presented for sale. His offspring are ALL ‘of a type’, a “good size, good walking, speedy looking 2yo's for 2024”. Nobody can seriously claim to be able to judge which freshman/first season sire will make the grade, however, we’ve been pretty accurate in such predictions, most notably Dark Angel, back in the day, and latterly, Havana Grey. Havana Grey looks like he’s the most exciting new sire out there, very possibly an ‘elite sire’ in the making. Sergei Prokofiev could easily be the next in line, we’d suggest!

The attraction to this colt doesn’t stop at his sire’s potential, his dam has already produced some serious racehorses herself - the black type Tagline (for Rod Millman) and the Hong Kong 110 performer Power Kowloon, who, ironically, was both by a Whitsbury Manor Stallion, out of a Whitsbury Manor mare, which, equalling Speed on Speed, usually gives you every chance of having a top class, sharp & early horse.

Watch his profile video, here:

He’s a big horse, looking fast, a touch back at the knee, with fabulous movement. He qualifies for Band C & D races but could easily end up in the £250,000 Weatherby’s Super Sprint, Redcar Listed 2yo Trophy, or races akin to those.

His hammer price of 28,000gns looks exceptional value to us - representing plenty of ‘bang for your buck’. Newmarket’s George Scott achieves really well with his classy & speedy 2yo’s, ROCKET RODNEY & SEVEN QUESTIONS being horses of note in recent times.

Can we head to Royal Ascot next June, via a Goodwood or Newmarket maiden, debut victory, we’d like to dream he can?
