Purchased from the Tattersalls Ireland Yearling Sale, this colt is by RED JAZZ, who is standing in Germany: https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/230879/red-jazz-leased-to-gestut-lindenhof. We are a fan of the sire, as we own 3-time winner RED BOND (highest OR to date: 92)
This colt is a full-brother to the Group 3 and Listed winner SNAZZY JAZZY, also trained by Clive. We are delighted to welcome him to our trainers roster and what a weekend just gone for Clive, as Supremacy wins the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes: https://www.racingpost.com/news/race-reports/supremacy-stamps-authority-on-middle-park-field-to-hold-lucky-vega-for-clive-cox/452142

If you choose to follow fashion at the yearling sales, there’s little opportunity to purchase value, and so often, it pays to look the other way. That’s precisely what we’ve done here, with the assistance of Clive Cox, and sought out an outstanding individual who is bred from the fantastic broodmare Bulrushes. She’s already produced 4 black type performers including Clive’s SNAZZY JAZZY, by Red Jazz.
We’ve had to dig quite deep to secure this stunning colt, at £75,000, but he was our nap of the day at the sale, and we often prefer, as the saying goes, “to buy the ones you want, not the ones you are left with.” For the record, he was Clive’s nap too.
He goes to Clive’s, Marlborough base, near Newbury and he looks, every inch, a high quality 2yo prospect for 2021. Clive has an uncanny knack of unearthing these sensibly priced, but top-drawer performers, on a budget between £50,000-£100,000.
We hope this fellow can become another, in the illustrious line, of Clive’s star performers.
See his walk video in the gallery.
We are pleased to announce that he has been named MAMBO BEAT.
Race entry update: He is pleasing his trainer at this point, so much so that he has entered him in the 6f Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Stakes at The Curragh in September. It's worth 300,000 euros and was also won by his brother.
Trainer Update (18th February): Clive has sent is the video of him, shown below and says: "This is Mambo Beat this morning he’s in the second pair on the far side. I’m very pleased with him and he is showing lots of similarities to Snazzy Jazzy at the same stage coming forward and dealing with some challenging weather so all systems go. He has a great mindset and outlook on life, had done well physically and has a playful temperament very similar to his brother."
