By the all-conquering new stallion on the block, HAVANA GREY there could be a huge upside to this fantastically well-bred individual.
His Kempton 4th was a run full of promise and he looks like he’s considerably better than that performance, with the penny dropping late, powering strongly up the straight and through the line - his 4,500gns purchase price from the Tattersalls Horses In Training sales, could look a snip in a few months’ time, who knows? Interestingly, Timeform say: "Will go on improving as his stamina is drawn out (will stay 1m)."
We had one of our well-respected judges cast their eye over him and they could find nothing wrong with him. He’s obviously had a few niggles to keep him off the track for a while, but nothing ostensibly ascertainable.
Since arriving at Mick’s, Oakham stables, he’s settled in really well, we’ve gelded him to help trim him off a bit and also to keep his mind focused. Mick is starting his preps for the track and he is already in steady work and a debut, this side of Christmas, could easily be on the cards. Mick hasn’t found any holes in him yet, so he could represent exceptional value.
The plan is to race over the Winter, on the AW, with the 7-time Champion AW trainer and now Grade 1 Breeders' Cup winning trainer, Mick Appleby. He looks a really fun horse for the Winter and beyond and with his top-class pedigree, don’t rule out him being very classy too.
