An impressive 4 length winner at York before we bought him, we purchased this son of Bahamian Bounty to remain in training with Roger Fell.
We couldn't fail but be impressed by the scintillating performance. He totally dominated the 0-95 5f handicap and its protagonists and Timeform awarded him a 103 for that run and the Racing Post were very impressed too: "Made most, clear well over 1f out, ridden and kept on strongly final furlong."
He looks perfect all the big Ascot 5f handicap sprints, the Gosforth Park Cup etc; and he reminds us very much of our own 12-time winning sprinter CAPTAIN DUNNE, who improved at around the same time of his career. He was a stalwart in all the top handicaps and Group races, coming a close 2nd in The Epsom Dash and running in the Nunthorpe and Abbaye no less.
Harome is a half brother to the very talented RIVER BOYNE, a shrewd 70,000gns purchase, by Red Baron's Barn at the Tattersalls HIT sale. He's a subsequent Grade 1 winner and since amassed over £829,000 in prize money. He is now a stallion in his own right.
Here he is on the gallops (in second):
Training Update: A high class, sprint handicapper on his day. He had heat in a leg last season so we had to pull up stumps. Sure, to be seen placed to great advantage by the very shrewd Roger Fell at places like York, Doncaster, Epsom and Ayr. Would have gone very close to winning the Epsom Dash a couple of seasons ago, with a better break.
