William Knight has had a fabulous couple of seasons since moving to Newmarket, with the likes of Sir Busker flying the flag for him at Group 1 level and he’s done really well for us in steering Cayman Moon to shed his maiden tag. We were very keen to add a yearling to our 2022 2yo roster for William to train.
Over the years, we have forged a very good working relationship with David Hodge of Llety Stud, including buying a number of useful horses from him; we’d trust his opinion implicitly. He’s convinced that this colt is as good a horse as he has ever had through his hands: “The mare is proven (has already produced 2 horses rated in excess of 100 RPR) and this is her best progeny to date.” The mare was a BLACK TYPE winner herself and was proven as a Group 1 performer too.
HAVANA GOLD is a fantastic young sire, of proven Group 1 winners such as Havana Grey - now a stallion in his own right. He produces serious 2yo’s every year, the likes of Chipotle, Fearby and the afore mentioned Havana Grey, being recent examples. Read all about his sire here: https://tweenhills.com/stallion/havana-gold.
As an individual (purchased at the Tatts Book 2 sale, for 72,000gns), he is strong, robust and is fluid and fluent in his movements, walks great and looks to have a bombproof temperament. He ticks all our boxes. We’ve maybe seen stronger pedigrees sold this week at Tattersalls Book 2, however, rather in-keeping with David Hodge’s assessment, we don’t think we’ve seen a better individual. He floats across the ground and especially in the pre-sales paddock, he shone like a beacon amongst his peers.

A comprehensive update, from William:
He led some fellow unraced 3 year olds here, on Long Hill. He looks very well in his coat and has really strengthened up:
