Originally from the John Gosden yard, Glencadam Glory was very highly thought of; so much so that he ran in the 2017 Epsom Derby finishing 9th. On his best rating, he is the 3rd highest rated progeny of the sire Nathaniel, behind wonder mare Enable and Dashing Willoughby. That tells you how talented this horse is.
He was purchased by William Easterby, son of trainer Tim, from the 2018 Tattersalls HIT sale for a bargain price. We have waited until now to offer this talented horse for purchase, as he has been recovering from an injury at Tim’s Habton base. Having been given the all-clear, following multiple X-rays, Tim put Glencadam Glory back into full training with a view to getting him back on a racecourse. He made his return to racing in early June with his new Official Rating of 100. His comeback run was in the Listed Grand Cup Stakes held at Doncaster rather than the usual course, York. He finished a close 4th behind some top-class stayers, including Red Verdon and King’s Advice. You could see watching the race back that he lacked fitness in the closing stages, which was all that held him back from finishing closer to the principles.

Having demonstrated he retains much of his ability, there are a number of very lucrative races are options for this horse. Races like the Old Newton Cup at Haydock could be very much on his agenda. Given his profile there is no reason to rule out races like the Ebor Handicap as well, that was worth £1,000,000 last year. We think he offers an exceptional opportunity to be involved with racing at some of the best meetings in the racing calendar this year and beyond.
