We are delighted to welcome ARCHIE WATSON to our trainers roster for 2021 with this super colt.

Purchased at the prestigious Tattersalls BOOK 1 Sale, this colt is by the 2000 Guineas winner, GALILEO GOLD. He is standing at the famous Tally-Ho Stud in Ireland and this is his first crop of yearlings entering the sales ring. Read about his sire here:

He qualifies for the £20,000 October ‘Book 1 Bonus.' This scheme is exclusively for horses from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. Read about it here:

The Tattersalls Book 1 Bonus, makes the purchasing of certain horses, a ‘no brainer’. Here’s a perfect example of a ‘no brainer’, as a 32,000gns purchase who qualifies for the £20,000 Book 1 Bonus, plus regulation prize money, should he win a Class 4 novice or maiden race in 2021, from March until the end of October 2021. Being a sharp and very racy colt, this yearling looks just the ticket to avail himself, and his owners, of course, of the Book 1 Bonus. It’d be perfectly believable, should he earn £25,000 or so, for his initial racecourse victory.

Archie Watson has made a real name for himself in the small number of years he’s been training, excelling with fast and sharp 2yo’s, precisely the mould of this Book 1 yearling. Our colt looks every inch, the sort of speedy individual that could be destined for the early 2yo races where the emphasis is on speed, and our journey could easily arrive at places like Sandown for the Listed National Stakes, or Royal Ascot, for races like the Windsor Castle and Norfolk Stakes, no less.

This colt hails from a very classy family, and being by a classic winner, there’s every reason to believe that this colt can be taking in BIG Saturdays and festival races. He looks tailor made too, for the big sales races that carry hundreds of thousands in prize money; Newbury, Doncaster and Redcar spring to mind.

A ‘no brainer’ who takes little endeavour to decide, that it just makes sense!

Training Update (15th February): He has grown into a big strong colt. All the strengthening exercise that he had had, now moves into a varied cantering routine, where the youngsters are asked a question or two. Archie says that he has already shown that he has a turn of foot when asked to quicken - a good sign! He also says that he is just the type of horse he likes - is a pleasure to deal with and has a good attitude. He is a very professional horse and making everyone’s life at home very easy. He looks like he will be a 6f/7f debutant.

Here he is on the gallops, behind the lead horse this morning:
