Purchased at the Tattersalls Ascot Yearling Sale, this colt is by the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest hero and Cheveley Park Stud bred GARSWOOD: http://www.huderie.com/.
Garswood broke his maiden in the Listed Harry Rosebery Stakes and ran a head second to Bungle Inthejungle in the Cornwallis Stakes at two. With Cheveley Park Stud having bought back in to the bay, he took the European Free Handicap and Lennox Stakes at three, the same season in which he finished a creditable third to Moonlight Cloud in the Prix de la Foret. He claimed deserved Group 1 laurels at four when denying Thawaany and Fiesolana to land the Prix Maurice de Gheest.
You may well have already worked out, that Foden is named after the Manchester City and England forward Phil Foden!

Racing Update: Absolutely hosed up at Lingfield in heavy ground. Highly tried since, including at Group 3 level, he just hasn’t had his favoured ground subsequently. He looks a top-class handicapper at the very least over 7f and a mile. The plan is to win another race this side of Xmas and then give him a break until the spring. It’s tilting at windmills a little, but we could start him off in something like The Greenham where it’s traditionally soft ground or worse. Remains an exciting individual for our 2022 roster.
