Training update (April): We saw this filly at our owners '2yo parade' in January, shortly after her purchase in December. She had been trotting around the arena doing some basic flatwork, trotting to the gallops and walking through the stalls, with a very willing attitude to her work. She then had a small setback, common in juveniles, but the prognosis is good and we’re looking forward to the future with her. See videos and the team talking about her at the parade, below..

BIOGRAPHY: We locked onto the sire sensation Havana Grey at around this time of the year ie December time, as the vibes began to emanate out about his progeny. History is possibly set to repeat itself with first season sire EARTHLIGHT's:progeny, as they approach their 2yo birthdays - everyone you speak to is singing the praises of how ‘their Earthlight(s)’ are coming along. You can read a piece in the gallery about him, by Racing Post Bloodstock.

This filly was as nice an individual as we saw all day, she actually looks like a colt, great size, strong, well muscled, fairly compact but with scope too. She moves like a dream, marches along with great purpose and a loose movement and stride pattern. She’s everything you’d look for in a yearling who’ll make up into a precocious 2yo. She’d be set for and April or May debut, we’d imagine. Her dam has produced 2 winners from 2 (catalogue update is the 2yo is now a winner - from just 2 runs) so she’s a flawless record from her progeny, including a progressive 3yo. The mare’s progeny are both sprinters so this filly is bred speed on speed, and she’s ideal, we thought, for Richard Fahey to train. She’s the typical budget that most of our top class horses have cost ie from the ‘middle market’ in this filly’s case, 52,000gns.

Watch her profile video, here:

She qualifies for the £150,000 & £100,000 Tattersalls Super Auction races run at HQ in August and October, a sales limited cohort. The races tend to be won by horses who can perform to around a handicap mark of 90 and we’d very much hope that she’d be capable, especially with her fillies’ allowance of 5lbs, of achieving, at the very least, this sort of rating. We’d hope she will make up into a black type filly, but we have the safeguards of the sales races, should we need them.

A very exciting filly indeed.

*Catalogue Update: Tuesday 21 November: Half-brother: TOP PROFIT (IRE) (2021 c. by Profitable (IRE)), won 1 race at 2 years, 2023 abroad and placed once, all his starts.
