We believe Marco has unearthed an absolute gem here, in purchasing him privately, when he was led out unsold at 35,000gns, this brute of a son of Gutaifan, who of course is by the great Dark Angel. Gutaifan was a classy juvenile, winning the Prix Robert Papin and the Flying Childers Stakes at 2 and he has has 10 of his progeny achieve an RPR of 90+ to date.
**Our colt is a half-brother to Marco’s Fanciful Angel (Highest OR 113, Timeform 116) who won at listed level and was placed 2nd in the Grade 1 Arlington Million Stakes for Marco, before then being sold on for a huge sum to race in America. He went on to place 2nd again in a Grade 1 in the USA.**
Marco did very well with our horses last year, giving us 6 winners from 4 horses and a 54% win and place strike rate, so we are very excited about what 2021 holds!
This fabulous colt, looks a bargain and shapes like a hugely imposing individual that possesses a mighty engine, if his genes and physique are anything to go by. He won’t be an early sort, racing in April or May this year, he’ll be a second half of the 2yo season sort, given his size, shape and pedigree.
He’ll take some getting fit, and looks just the perfect Newmarket horse, who will progress, month by month, especially through his 3yo year in 2022. His genes suggest he could easily be a Group performer or a top-class handicapper at the very least. He looks like and is bred to be a 7f to a miler as a 3yo and he’s a very very exciting recruit indeed to the MPR ranks.
When Marco showed him to us and offered us first refusal, we took merely an instant to say yes! He’s an outstanding prospect and we can’t wait to see him hit the track and strut his stuff. His pedigree is to die for, it’s full of black type, Group performers.
