Part of the Jabber Abdullah partial dispersal, at the recent Horses In Training sale, this would-be Saturday handicapper came on our radar, when Roger & Harry Charlton got in touch to recommend this horse as having some decent wiggle room from his current handicap mark of 90.
He is a winner of 2 of his 4 starts as a 2 year-old and is by PROFITABLE. He’s been brought along steadily by the renowned trainer and son combo with this year’s campaign particularly in mind i.e., their usual patient approach is hopefully about to bear fruit.
Batal Dubai is a thoroughly unexposed sprinter and open to significant improvement. Plan A is to see him progress this Summer, winning a decent prize pot or two and potentially moving him on, at a profit, at the end of the season. Were he to massively overachieve we may vote (Plan B) to keep him on for next year, and if he were to not make the anticipated progress, we may have to exit stage left (Plan C), at the end of the season, reaping roughly or approximately what we have paid for him, all being well i.e., 55,000gns. He was actually ‘bought back’ by Roger and his team, as they were keen to keep him, and we joined the party, moments after the hammer went down.
It’ll be fascinating to see where he can take us, this year and possibly beyond, but he seems to be a very exciting addition to the MPR ranks.
