“Middleham Park Racing is the winning most syndicate in the country and it is an absolute pleasure to be able to train for them. We have been very fortunate over the years to have had some fantastic horses together, including Toormore, Kool Kompany, Raymond Tusk and our 2016 Group One winner, Ventura Storm. Overall the whole experience is top notch, both on and off the racecourse, with regular stable visits with us and some fantastic days out racing.”

"What Middleham Park Racing offer is the chance for people to get into ownership, who may otherwise not be able to and their results speak for themselves."
Horse racing is often referred to as the ‘Sport of Kings’, with wealthy owners dominating the fields worldwide and spending millions on their bloodstock empires. If you are an avid flat racing fan, you’ll be familiar with names such as Al Shaqab, Coolmore, Godolphin, Prince Khalid Abdullah, Qatar Racing to name but a few of the top owning enterprises.
Our colours regularly line up alongside such colossal opposition, taking the spoils on many an occasion, as you can see from the homepage photograph of Viren’s Army winning the Listed Dee Stakes at Chester.
"Being in the paddock wearing your owners badge at top class meetings is so thrilling!"
2019 was a very successful year for us, producing 93 winners, £1.3m of prize money won and returns on Bloodstock sales for owners of over £1.3m
Tim Palin, our founder and Director of Racing, says: "We have in no way rested on our 1100 or so, winners’ laurels, we’ve continued to source the very best Flat and National Hunt stock available and our horses continue to thrive on the track, including having a 2020 ante post Cheltenham Festival favourite and the 2020 Group 2 Prix Robert Papin winner Ventura Tormenta, no less.
We’re unique at MPR, having achieved over 1100 winners and having started from nothing in 1995, with zero contacts and zero experience in running a syndicate company, through to becoming the UK’s most successful racing syndicate in the history of thoroughbred racing. For this, a heartfelt debt of gratitude goes out to all our owners, past and present, our horses, trainers and stable staff that have enabled this to come to pass, along with our fabulous and 100% devoted staff, who’s dedication and application in pursuit of excellence, afford our owners, the very best experience possible with MPR.
There’s no room for complacency, however. To anyone who has been with us for any amount of time, or for anyone looking in, for that matter, we’d suggest it would be easy to note, that we remain hellishly ambitious and we’re attempting to develop the MPR brand in all sorts of directions, underpinned by our principles of providing the ordinary person in the street, the opportunity to race thoroughbreds at the highest level practicable.
As we enter our second quarter of a century of existence, we’re in our very best position ever, to deliver on our and our owners’ ambitions on the track. Long may it remain this way!"
After our 1,000th winner success in 2018, there was a nice story published by Great British Racing, where Tom Palin, Tim's son and our Bloodstock and National Hunt Manager was interviewed about our history. You can read it here: http://www.inthepaddock.co.uk/1000-up-for-mighty-middleham-park/
Are you an owner with us for 2021?
After weeks of careful and extensive catalogue research, inspections, vetting and consultation with our bloodstock agents & trainers, our team have been to every yearling sale this year - working alongside our agents and we have purchased 20 yearlings from the following sales: The Goffs Premier, Tattersalls Ascot, The Arqana Deauville Select & October, Tattersalls Ireland, Goffs Orby and the prestigious Tattersalls Book 1 and 2 Sales.
We are delighted to welcome four new trainers to MPR, as Roger Charlton, Clive Cox, Charlie Fellowes and Archie Watson join us for the first time, each with one yearling. Of course, we have our reliable team of existing trainers in place once again also: Michael Bell, Marco Botti, Karl Burke, Keith Dalgleish, Richard Fahey, Richard Hannon, David O'Meara, Hugo Palmer and Mark Johnston will all train next year's 2 year old cohort.
Tim says: "No stone goes unturned to ensure that these yearlings will represent their owners with distinction on the racecourse in 2021 and we stuck to our principles - only buying when we think there's value. That doesn't just mean cheap; Camelot was 525,000gns and Lily's Angel was £8,000, but, crucially, both represented value. We’ve had an exceptional 2yo season, in what proved to be a curtailed time of things, with 14 2yo wins, including a Group 2 Prix Robert Papin winner, Group 1 runners, Group 3 and listed placed performers and Royal Ascot representatives, no less, which is a fabulous achievement in a very curtailed season. We’ve every reason to believe our 2021, 2yo cohort to prove even better still."
We have been lucky to have been able to buy some extremely well-bred individuals – Sires such as Almanzor, Dandy Man, Dark Angel, Intello, Kodiac, Oasis Dream and Showcasing for example. Offering 2 year old syndicates with sires of this calibre, is not usual and we can’t wait to see them race in our colours this year and next!
