Stable Visits are Back!
Since the relaxation of the guidelines, we made sure that we booked in plenty of stable visits with our trainers, so our patient owners could see their horses, up close and personal, behind the scenes.
So far, we have been to Donald McCain's, Tom Dascombe's, the Newmarket yards of Michael Bell, Marco Botti, Jane Chapple-Hyam, Charlie Fellowes, William Knight and Richard Spencer, as well as seeing our largest string, with Richard Hannon; in the most glorious sunshine!
Our National Hunt horses have been on their summer holidays and so we visited our Paul Nicholls string at Ditcheat and this weekend and the summer holiday home of our Nicky Henderson trained horses, as they prepare to return from their breaks ready for the 21/22 NH season. There was a hog roast and plenty of fizz on offer too!
Coming up, we head to the yards of Bryan Smart, Sir Mark Prescott and David Pipe, with further dates to follow.
Tim, our Director of Racing says: "Of course we are in this game to produce winners for our owners! However another integral part is getting to go racing and being 'in the paddock' and seeing behind the scenes at the stables. Gosh how we owe all the trainers and their amazing staff a debt of gratitude for 'keeping the show on the road' during such a difficult time over the last 18 months. It has been a trial of our owners’ patience too, missing out on the normal racing experience. Being back in the paddock and winners’ enclosures, has made a huge difference and when we caught up with our syndicate members at the stables this week, you could see the delight on their faces!"
Watching the horses on the Richard Hannon gallops:
The Hannon team always put on a good show for our owners and after seeing the horses on the gallops, we returned to the parade ring for some food and a glass of champagne, or two!
Tim goes on to say: "We still have some well bred 2 year-olds waiting to make their debuts, those who have more stamina laden pedigrees or have needed time to get through growth spurts. We don't put all our chips down at the sales for sharp types, we like to look for juveniles who will train on and continue to give their owners more than just early 2 year-old campaigns. You can see that from the "50 Winners" collage in the gallery. We are now at 64 winners this year and as that is far and away the best barometer of measuring success, long may the purple patch continue for #TeamMPR."
