Why join a Middleham Park Racing syndicate for 2024?

MPR AT THE SALES: You can't just turn up on any given sale day, without doing the hard yards! Buying properly involves careful catalogue study in the days before, doing due diligence, inspections and vetting's galore at the sales complex ahead of the sale and then the planning regarding budgets and which trainers match each of our shortlisted horses.

We won't buy a cheap horse for the sake of it - that's a false economy. All racehorses with a given trainer cost the same to train and look after, so we look for the quality edge and buy where we feel there's both value and potential. Residual value has to also be in our minds - a page combined with the walk, looks and scope to train on or be considered for breeding. In the last 6 months, five different syndicates of owners voted to accept six-figure offers for some of our 2 and 3 year olds -  a fine example of both good buying and good race placement and management.

Our bloodstock team came away with 21 purchases from the very best yearling sales around Europe. The new group of now 2-year-olds, have been carefully placed with a high calibre of trainers all around the country, maintaining our flexible offering for owners. They join Michael Bell, Karl Burke, Clive Cox, Ed Dunlop, Richard Fahey, James Ferguson, Richard Hannon, Alice Haynes, Charlie Johnston, Eve Johnson Houghton, Rod Millman, Hugo Palmer, Sir Mark Prescott, George Scott and Archie Watson.

THE SUCCESS: Our 2023 prize money earnings of over £2.5 million is testament to the quality of races our horses' contest and their calibre. We had 35 runners in Group/Graded races, with 13 placing 1-3. Listed winners meant 21 horses earned black type in total. A winners strike rate of 14.2% with 49.8% of all runners returning to the winners enclosure, from being placed. There are actually other syndicates with more 2-year-old's who had nowhere near that level of performance. Over the last 2 seasons, you can see some examples of our successful buying strategy from these Group and Listed race results on the flat:

BRAVE EMPEROR (a 2yo private purchase) in training with Archie Watson, in 2023 he won a Group 2, three Group 3 races and a Listed race around Europe, taking his race earnings to £321,000 and he has further pattern race targets next year!

PART OWNING A BETTER-QUALITY HORSE:

2023 once again provided our owners with some fantastic race days, both here and around Europe. Experiences of a lifetime; such as winning a Grade 1 at The Cheltenham Festival, winning on the snow at the glamorous St Moritz 'White Turf' Festival and winning pattern races in France, Germany and Italy - with owners making a weekend of it!

We had winners at the Chester May Festival, on Northumberland Plate Day at Newcastle, at The Newmarket Guineas Festival, at the York Dante Festival, at the Doncaster St Leger Festival, at the Qatar Goodwood Festival and three winners at the Ayr Gold Cup Festival.

There are winners and then there are WINNERS!

With 29 years experience syndicating racehorses and this year passing 1,500 winners, our team have a wealth of knowledge when buying, managing and race placing horses. We have provided our owners with every possible positive aspect of being a racehorse owner and at a fraction of the price of sole ownership.

Not many owners in their own right have Group 1 performers, so there's not much else we can say to convince you that joining Middleham Park Racing as an owner is a great idea! There are other syndicates who may suggest joining them to 'race at the highest level' but none have managed to achieve the record we continue to enhance - six Group 1/Grade 1 winners - now that IS the highest level!
