Over The Moon!

Tue 15 Jun 2021

WINNER 38 OF 2021: CAYMAN MOON, trained by William Knight and ridden by Luke Morris: 'The Read Hollie Doyle's Column On Attheraces.com Handicap' over 1m 2f at Lingfield.

Up in trip and on handicap debut, he was also fitted with a first time visor, as well as having a jockey in the saddle who has had 6 rides for us this year - winning 4 races, a 2nd and a 4th!

Drawn in the centre of the field, he dropped in to the mid-division and held that well as the race progressed. You could see Luke beginning to shake the reins to come around tiring horses and he made the move on him from just before 2f out. He had to come wide around the bend to get a run and moved into the lead entering the final furlong, to be driven clear and winning by 2 3/4 lengths, with Sky Sports Racing on course reporter Luke Harvey commenting "Middleham Park Racing are having a good time of it at the moment!"

In his post race interview, Luke said: "Up in trip and with the visor meant he was a different proposition today. but he is still mentally raw. I got a lovely trail through the race though and I hope he can step forward now from this."

Timeform say:"In first-time visor and back on all-weather, proved a different proposition on handicap debut, benefiting from the longer trip and scoring readily; mid-division, took strong hold, headway under 3f out, led final 1f, forged clear; should prove suited by 1½m and is open to further improvement" and have given him a rating of 60p.

Syndicate manager Tom says: "Congratulations to his owners on his fine win under 'The Sniper' Luke Morris. The addition of the visor and up in trip worked a treat; he saw out the trip well. Luke gave him a good ride, as he didn't show him too much daylight too early and only brought him out from the pack when he needed to and away he went in the home straight! He has come out of the race well this morning and we will start to look for his next target. Thanks to William and his team and to Luke for a well judged ride."

So today, we are off to Royal Ascot with our first runner of the week and have just declared two more for Thursday, so best of luck to all owners and enjoy the day!
