2yo Ventura Rebel wins on debut

Sun 14 Apr 2019

We sent out our second 2 year old runner of the season yesterday, hoping he would run as well as we had seen him work at home. VENTURA REBEL, our son of Pastoral Pursuits lined up in Division 2 of the 5f Maiden at Thirsk and was third in the betting.

Although slowly away and showing greenness, he was niggled along by Paul Hanagan to get into the race. But he overcame this inexperience quickly, having to weave between horses, he then picked up very well when asked to by Paul and with ears pricked moved to the head of the field, to win by just under a length. He was trainer Richard Fahey's 100th winner at Thirsk too, so even more reason to celebrate with some bubbly!

To the delight of his already ecstatic owners, he also won them the £10,000 'Plus 10' bonus (as you can see in the photo.) Not bad earning back 50% of your purchase price first time out! We saw that he was allocated a Timeform rating of 91 for this run too, which is pleasing to see. You can also see in the gallery, this morning's excerpt from the Racing Post which mentions the holy grail of Royal Ascot as a possibility...

Quite a time for our colours and Richard Fahey at the moment, with 3 winners from 4 runners in the last 8 days. Having sold out of all our 2 year old's, we purchased a colt from the Tattersalls Ascot breeze up sale (the same sales house we purchased Ventura Rebel from) last week. There are some shares remaining in him-with Richard even buying a share as he likes him so much. See the details of the son of Dragon Pulse here: http://www.middlehamparkracing.net/horses/view,dragon-pulse-ex-kateeva-colt_251.htm Shares from just £575 too!!

So quite a start to our year, with 17 winners on the board now. Long may this continue...
