Imagine our delight when at the Deauville Sales, we were able to purchase not one, but two fillies by the mighty Le Havre. Le Havre is probably the best young stallion in France and one of the best in Europe. He is already the sire of umpteen Group winners, headlined by the two dual Group 1 winning fillies of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and the Prix de Diane Longines: AVENIR CERTAIN and LA CRESSONNIERE. Read  his full sire biography here: http://www.montfort-preaux.com/en/etalons/havre-thoroughbred-bay,76535.html

We are huge fans of this stallion's progeny and we have high hopes for our very own son of Le Havre TIGRE DU TERRE. Richard Hannon has gone on record as saying: “If I have a 2018 2000 Guineas horse, it's Tigre Du Terre.” Big praise indeed. You couldn't fail but be impressed by Tigre's 4.5 length demolition of his opposition on debut at Ascot in July. He has just earned dual 'black type', placing 3rd in the Listed Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury on just his third start and subsequently 2nd in the Listed Flying Scotsman Stakes at Doncaster.

This particular filly is fantastically bred, being out of a Galileo mare no less, as are the top class La Cressonniere and Richard Hannon's stable star Barney Roy. Ironically, in many people's eyes, Galileo is the new Sadler’s Wells, such is the success of his progeny at Group and in particular Group 1 level. Given that Sadler’s Wells has established himself at the top of the broodmare sires list over time, it should be no surprise that as Galileo wrestles the mantle of super power sire from Sadler’s Wells, that he should also wrestle the mantle from Sadler’s Wells of super power broodmare sire too. There's an interesting article in Thoroughbred Owner and Breeder about the rise of Galileo as a brood mare sire: https://ownerbreeder.co.uk/columns/galileos-girls-gathering-pace/

Suffice to say, our filly's pedigree affords her every chance of being a top-class racehorse herself and indeed a distinct possibility that she could be a very valuable broodmare too, in time.

There is a lovely blend is this filly's pedigree between Aga Khan class and stamina alongside the speed of Hamish McGonagall and the precocity of the Coventry Stakes placed Kawagino. Le Havre brings real quality to the table too. You would imagine that this filly has the potential to make up into a high-class miler as a 3yo, possibly starting off over 6f in May 2018.

Ace bloodstock agent Ross Doyle describes this filly as "a beautiful mover with a fabulous temperament. She should come to hand quite nicely."

She is also 'French race premiums' qualified. France is well known for its lucrative system of Owners’ premiums on top of already generous prize-money. On the flat, a 2 or 3-year-old can earn an extra 64% on top of the race purse, so we would expect to be taking full advantage of this initiative.

Latest trainer report: (29th Oct) We saw all our yearlings yesterday on an owners visit to the stables. She looks a particularly well, put together individual. She is broken in and cantering and appears to possess a fabulous, no nonsense temperament to boot. She relished the attention and stood in front of a large group of admirers completely unfazed, posing for the camera! You can see her walking around the ring with the other yearlings in the above two videos (she is saddle cloth number 29).
