Purchased at the Osarus Yearling sale in France, where we purchased BOITRON and TIGRE DU TERRE; this colt is by DABIRSIM. Read more about his sire here: http://www.harasdegrandcamp.com/etalons/indexdabirsim.html.

He is French Owner premiums qualified.

If you hit upon a young sire that's going places, you can often unearth a sensational piece of value. We were lucky enough to own the very first "good" Dark Angel in Lily's Angel having purchased her for £8000. Furthermore we purchased two sons of the then, up and coming sire Le Havre, in the above mentioned Tigre Du Terre and Boitron; so we've a very decent record of latching onto a progressive young sire that's going places, before his progeny become too expensive to secure a talented one. We're pretty sure that Dabirsim is precisely that. He was unbeaten as a 2yo and was crowned Champion European 2yo in 2012 having won 5 races in total, including the Gp1 Prix Morny and the Gp1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère at Longchamp on Arc Day. He's made a fantastic start to his stud career producing Royal Ascot 2yo winner Different League and the Group winner Coeur de Beauté, alongside many other winners, from his first crop, which considering this cohort was conceived in Germany, where pedigrees are slower and later maturing, is quite a remarkable achievement. We anticipate his élan will seriously take off in the coming years.

Spending €98,000 on a son of Dabirsim doesn't necessarily sound like value and of course the proof of the pudding will be in the eating of course, but the whole team who ventured to the Osarus Sales in Bordeaux France, that's Peter and Ross Doyle and Tom Palin (MPR Bloodstock Manager), Mike Prince and Tim Palin were convinced that this colt was the pick of the 280 lots presented in the catalogue. At a sale frequented by more English and foreign agents, we're pretty sure that this colt would have made far, far more than the figure we've paid for him and if presented in a year or two's time, once the true merit of Dabirsim is out there for all to see, the €98,000 we're sure, would be vastly superseded.

He's a fantastic colt, who does everything right; he's an outstanding individual and he moves like a dream. Generally a good moving horse in their slower paces will move well in their faster paces too and then it's down to their genes to determine how quickly they can run. We'd be very very hopeful that this outstanding individual with a "value" dynamic to his purchase, will turn into a high class 2yo for Richard Hannon in 2019.  We hope he'll be gracing the turf of the various racing festivals around GB and Europe.

Trainer Update (11th Nov'): Richard reports that he "is a lovely horse and a very nice mover". He is doing daily hacking on the Herridge all weather gallop and walking through the stalls as part of his education. He is doing all of this very well.
