Purchased at the Osarus Yearling sale in France, this filly qualifies for 'French premiums.' France is well known for its lucrative system of Owners’ premiums on top of already generous prize-money. On the flat, a 2 or 3 year old can earn an extra 64% on top of the race purse, so we would expect to be taking full advantage of this!
Since we purchased her, she has grown into a fine specimen and she is filling out her frame very nicely. We are lucky enough to have two Dabirsim 2yo's, this filly with Archie Watson and a colt with Hugo Palmer. Both are highly thought of by the whole team at MPR but both will be making up into 3yo's, so long as we invest the time they deserve into them. Having cost €52,000, we believe that however long it takes to allow Cape Hill Cotter to mature, we will afford her. As a result, she is being brought along very steadily with her 3yo career in mind. The plan would be to try and get her ready for a debut on the AW just this side of Christmas, but if we had to wait until the turf season 2018, we feel this filly deserves the chance. We can envisage her being around for a little while as she matures through her 3yo and 4yo careers, all being well. She has fantastic looks, a fabulous pedigree and looks very exciting indeed.
This filly's sire, DABIRSIM was a high class racehorse, very much a 2 year old, who trained on. He won all his first 5 races, with a Group 3 on only his third start, followed by two Group One races; the Prix Morny and the Jean-Luc Lagadere. He is turning out to be an outstanding first season sire, firing in the winners around Europe. He looks destined for greatness amongst the sires' ranks.
This filly was the most outstanding individual in the sale in our opinion. Out of a Pivotal mare, combined with the speed from the sire's side, her biggest asset is the way she moves. Combined with her outstanding looks, this gives her the best chance of being a top class racehorse; a beautiful and well regarded filly.
We were interested to read in the Racing Post that: "Success as a brood mare sire came relatively young in life for Pivotal. By its very nature, the brood mare sire list is often populated by elderly, deceased or retired stallions but PIVOTAL has consistently been ahead of his contemporaries in that department, being the only active European-based sire to fill a top-ten position by prize-money in each of the past four years" http://bloodstock.racingpost.com/news/bloodstock/pivotal-proving-a-strong-force-as-a-broodmare-sire/2156678/
