IFFRAAJ is one of the very best European sires out there, he is the sire of RIBCHESTER no less. He had in excess of 10 of his progeny in at Book 1 Tattersalls, the Premier Sales in Europe. Read more about the sire here: https://www.darleyeurope.com/stallions/our-stallions/iffraaj
Lot 175, this son of Iffraaj was, in our opinion, the best value purchase of the whole Newmarket Sale. When dozens of horses were selling for over a million pounds, Mark Johnston has managed to secure on our behalf this fabulous, loose moving colt with real presence and a really strong pedigree to boot. At a cost of £20,000 Guineas, he could very easily pay for himself when securing the two bonuses he is eligible for. Mark has purchased just 4 horses at this sale in recent years, in 2015 and 2016. All four were winners of the £25,000 bonus attached to winners sold at this sale. The four include KILMAH and NYALETI; not a bad haul from a very small cohort.
Our colt is out of the Listed performer REROUTE who won on debut as a 2yo over 5f and went on, later in her 2yo career to finish placed twice at listed level including 3rd in the Land of Burns Stakes at the Ayr Western festival. She was a sharp and speedy daughter of Acclamation (the sire of Dark Angel,) so she will be bringing speed and precocity to the mix. She hails from the family of our very own Group performer REALTRA so with these genes and Mark's excellence in training 2yo's, we feel our colt is in the best place possible to excel at potentially the highest level in 2018. Failing that, we feel the bonuses that he qualifies for, namely the Book 1 £25,000 and the Plus 10 £10,000, afford us the opportunity to make some real economic sense of owning a share in a racehorse. The way the bonuses work is that should our Iffraaj colt win a maiden or novice in 2018, then a total of £35,000 will be paid to the winning owners, in addition to the normal prize money attached to the particular qualifying race. Only recently for example, our horse Ventura Royal earned over £41,000 in losing her maiden tag at Redcar. A fabulous return for her owners; the haul being principally attributable to the £25,000 Book 1 Bonus. As previously alluded to, Mark has an excellent record in purchasing from this sale and delivering the bonuses on the track for his owners.
We believe this colt offers a fabulous opportunity to be involved in a potentially high-class horse with the economic backdrop of earning substantial bonuses at an early stage of his career. We look forward to him making up into a super 2yo for his owners in 2018.
