Ivestar - 3yo gelding Dandy Nicholls (Ivestar's previous trainer) has for some time now thought that Ivestar would make up into a high class hurdler and that the sooner he is taught to jump an obstacle the better. He thinks he could make up into a Cheltenham type. His reasoning is that the horse has lots of size and scope about him in addition to the fact that the horse is very athletic and a great mover; very well co-ordinated. Ivestar has a great enthusiasm and seems best on ground with just a bit of cut in it He is just perfect for the NH game.
To this end we have decided to have the horse trained by one of our existing trainers, PATRICK HASLAM, who has few peers amongst the juvenile hurdling fraternity. Patrick is very shrewd and adept and getting horses to jump superbly and maximising every last ounce of natural ability that they have for the jumping game. His regular jumps jockeys are Tony McCoy and Felix De Giles(3). This all adds up to quite a potent weapon.
Of course the horse will be up to winning on the Flat too, his current Timeform rating is over 80. Ivestar is the perfect dual purpose type of individual who owners will see running regularly over the coming months.Since arriving at Patrick’s he has been schooled over rustic logs and subsequently over full sized hurdles under Barry Keniry. He is tailor made for this national hunt game.
