Captain Dunne - 3yo gelding -
In keeping with the upgrades in class being experienced by his namesake at Manchester City, Captain Dunne is very much on the upgrade himself judged by the way he pulverised his opposition in the seemingly very competitive £14,000 added class 3 handicap at Southwell this afternoon (30/9/08). Under a very positive ride (this seems to be the key to this horse) from David Allen, Captain Dunne led them along and coasted to an easy victory with David looking around throughout the final furlong. The Capt had missed the break at Musselburgh and then was drawn in the car park at Doncaster last time since his awesome victory at Thirsk on soft ground in August. He has shown he is no one trick pony however having won on g/f, soft and now the Southwell deep AW surface. We may well head to Musselburgh next weekend for the £60,000 added heritage handicap over 5f. There is a £12,000 added race back at Southwell on 2nd November for him too. In the form of his life at the moment, he has shown his season is far from over at the moment. He will be rated in the 90's now and he could well be up to listed or even group class. He is a half brother to Tom Dascome's Group 2 winning 2yo CLASSIC BLADE after all. i.e. they both have the same dam
We would recommend the horse as good value for money, with the potential to be really good
