The Trainer – Brian Meehan

Brian Meehan has established himself among the leading trainers during a highly successful 12 year career in Lambourn and now at Manton, one of the most impressive training facilities in the world.
Brian had a thorough grounding in racing before he took out a licence to train. Born in Limerick, he enjoyed two invaluable seasons at the Irish National Stud before accepting an invitation to join Richard Hannon as assistant trainer where he remained for some six years helping to send out winners such as the 2000 Guineas winner, Tirol, the great sprinters Mr Brooks and Shalford, and the flying filly Lyric Fantasy.

Since he first took out a licence in 1993, he has won more than 650 races across the globe and around £8m win and place money. This year alone he has amassed almost £1.5 million in prize money. He has trained top class horses such as Tomba, Kaieteur and David Junior, winner of The Champion Stakes (Group 1) at Newmarket in 2005 before going on to win The Dubai Duty Free (Group 1) at Nad Al Sheba in Spring 2006 - Brian's first ever runner from the new Manton base!
